Night Zookeeper

In the Night Zoo there is a boy called Tom Rivers he has a teleporting torch that will be a grate treasure . Tom lives in the Night Zoo. Tom likes animals and hates vegetable soup, bullies and spiders. Tom has friend Sam the spying giraffe. Sam lives in the waterfly woods and likes to play hide and seek. Sam hates to stand still for a long time. Tom can make animals come to life with his torch. There is an evil rotten master that sends evil spooky monsters to kill Tom. Tom  can make animals with his mind and with a marvelous magic ball.

Yesterday afternoon in Kokatahi school a Magician called Vas Kolovski came. His first trick was when he had a glass box and then he got a massive knife. He put it thrue the glass box then he got a fan and then there was in the glass box was a bird.

Vas Kolovski tolled us have fizzy drinks and sugary stuff analogy and have healthy stuff all the time like firte,vegetables,dairy,grains and protein.

My favorite part was when Vanessa went on stage. Vas Kolovski got mad at Vanessa when got the towel dirty. Vas Kolovski gave Vanessa 3 wounds the first wound was broken the second wound was bendy and the third wound it was big but one side the white cap wasn't on but when he put the other one on the other side went flying off.

Last week on Thursday in Kokatahi school the Kea Class went to Duck creek to see what type of invertebrates there are. We also went to see how clean the water was.

We caught the invertebrates in a kick net. This is how you use a kick net, you kick the rock in front of the net facing upstream so the invertebrates go in the kick net and some rocks.

The helpers were Miss Hinchliff , Jane , Katrina ,  Marein , Loren and Michelle. Loren helped me to use the kick net. My group caught invertebrates with the kick net like a dobsonfly, snails , worms and more. The dobsonfly does not fly over the creek like a real fly the dobsonfly is like an underwater centipede.

The kick net is black and white or gray. In the end we talked about what we caught then we let the invertebrates back in the creek. Duck creek comes from a small lake near Lake Kaniere.

Did everyone catch some invertebrates? I’m sure everyone had lots and lots of fun. You have to watch out for weeds and don’t forget to look in the grass by the creek you could find some invertebrates there.

Riparian Planting

Riparian planting is when you are planting along the river or creek. You should put a fence to block off the cattle, so the cattle does not wreck the plants you plant. The cattles poos and wees is nutrients for the soil. You don’t want cows in the water because they can poo and wee in the water.

The shade from the trees keeps all the fish that go under the trees cool. Do you want dead fish in your creek or river do you?

Planting by the creeks or river also stops erosion. You can plant by polluted river or creek or stream to stop the pollution. Erosion is dirt fulling in the creeks or rivers.

Have you heard of the water cycle? The water cycle is a cycle that never stops. The water gets evaporated or transported into the sky then it gets precipitated down to the ground.

Evaporation is when water turns into water vapor rises into the sky. Some of the water evaporates from lakes,rivers the sea.

Condensation is when tiny droplets cool down and forms a cloud. When the clouds get too heavy with water the water precipitates down to the ground. All the droplets stick together to make clouds.

Precipitation is when rain,hail,snow and sleet comes down. The water sticks together to form a bigger droplet. When the droplets get too heavy for the cloud the droplets come down as snow,hail,rain and sleet.

In conclusion the water cycle is a cycle that goes round and round and never stops. The water droplets in the clouds are  held up by warm air. All the water in the world is very very old.
